Hardangerfjord History
The county of Hardanger has given inspiration to many artists, and one of the most famous paintings is "The bridal process in Hardanger" (see below) by Tiedemand and Gude. The painting is considered on of the most important examples of Norwegian romantic nationalism art and can be seen at The National Gallery in Oslo.

As well, Bergen composer Edvard Grieg had a cabin by the Hardangerfjord and could draw a lot of inspiration from the fjord and its people. He adapted many Hardanger folk tunes into his compositions, particularly in "Peer Gynt".
The Hardanger Fiddle also originates from this fjord, mainly used for dancing and celebrations.
